United in marriage at First Lutheran Church, New Richmond, on August 18, 1979 were Kathleen Rae French, Route 2, New Richmond, and Francis Carl 114 N. Andrews, Greenwood.

Parents of the couple are Charlotte French of Route 2, New Richmond, and Robert and Mary Carl of 312 W. Miller, Greenwood.

Officiating at the 3 p.m. ceremony was Reverend Eugene Wekander. The groom’s pastor, Reverend Douglas Groenewold of Withee, gave the Scripture Reading and Wedding Message.

Bill Leahy was guitarist and Mrs. Shirley Rossing the organist.

The bride, accompanied to the alter by her mother and Mr. Ron Larson, was seen in a white jersey gown with a chapel length Watteau train, an empire style waist, a high neckline and the shoulder area was trimmed with satin Venice lace. The short cap sleeves were enhanced with floral Venice lace, as well as the Watteau train and dress hemline. She wore a fingertip length veil trimmed with floral lace and pearls. Her headpiece was adorned with a band of yellow and white miniature roses and baby’s breath. She carried domen yellow and white long stemmed roses, accented with baby’s breath. She also wore short white gloves.

Serving as maid of honor was Lynn Carl of Greenwood. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Bonnie Lanes of Morris, Minnesota, Miss Toni Carl of Greenwood and Miss Dianne Kaiser of Neillsville.

There were attired in floor length yellow gowns of polyester knit with small gathered standup collars and a blouson top with flowery lace around the armholes accenting the sleeves. Each wore a wrist corsage of miniature carnations and roses in yellow and with, with baby’s breath and greenery. They wore a headband of five carnations to match their dresses.

Best man was Thomas Abel of Greenwood. Groomsmen were Carl Kubaskie of Merrillan, Tom French of New Richmond and Bob Klinke of Greenwood.

Eric Larson and Bruce Alm performed ushering duties.

A reception followed the ceremony in the church basement and a dance was held in the evening at the Red Rooster in New Richmond. The following weekend and open house was held at the Greenwood Legion Hall for the couple.

The new Mrs. Carl is a 1976 graduate Stenography graduate of Eau Claire Technical Institute.

Mr. Carl is a 1972 welding graduate from Eau Claire Technical Institute, and is employed by the Greenwood Oil Company.

The couple is at home at 114 N. Andrews, Greenwood.

Sandra Kay Schultz, Route 2, Colby, and Robert Ray Rindfleisch, Route 2, Spencer, were united in marriage at the First United Church of Christ, Colby, on Saturday, October 20, 1979 at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated, and music was provided by Mrs. Kenneth Dix, organ, Deb Gripentrog, flute, and Theresa Strey, soloist.

The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Schultz, Route 2, Colby, and the parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rindfleisch, Route 2, Spencer.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a crepe chiffon gown with minute v-neckline and full bishop sleeves, trimmed in silk Venice lace, with soft flounce flowing into a chapel length train. She wore a waltz length veil of nylon net with a Juliet cap. She carried a cascade bouquet of spider mums, tea roses, and baby’s breath.

The maid of honor was Theresa Strey, Spencer, and bridesmaids were Mrs. Richard McDowell, Minnetonka, Minnesota, and Mrs. Terry Beyreis, Spencer. They wore dresses of quiana nylon with a gathered neckline and a keyhole opening with flutter sleeves and a braided tie belt. The maid of honor’s dress was peach in color and the bridesmaids’ dresses were copper. They carried baskets of fall colored mums, daisies and baby’s breath.

Serving as best man was Frank Oelrich, Wausau, and groomsmen were Steve Krause, Spencer and Steve Rindfleisch, also of Spencer. Dennis Schultz and Dean Rindfleisch performed the duties of ushering.

Following the ceremony there was a dinner in the church basement, and a reception and dance were held at the Sword, Colby.

The bride is a 1979 graduate of Spencer High School and is employed at Burger Chef, Marshfield. The groom graduated from Spencer High School and is employed at Gropp Farms, Inc.

Following a wedding trip the the western states, the couple will reside at Route 1, Unity.

Carson Timblin officiated, and music was provided by Esther Ammerman, pianist, and Marilyn Clauson sand “I Honestly Love You” and “We’ve Only Just Begun.”

Parents of the bride are Monty Osmundsen, Mineral Point and Diane Hill, Readstown. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gadke, Route 1, Loyal.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a white floor length gown of lace from waist to floor, bodice had arrangement of lace in blue, green, yellow, melon and lilac, and the veil was trimmed with white flower lace, and long train.

Serving as maid of honor was Doris Osmundsen, Readstown. Bridesmaids were Shyla Glass, Janesville, Tina Gratz, Viroqua, Debbie Gadke, Loyal, Mrs. Arlene Kinserdahl, Readstown, and Tina Hirschfield, Readstown was mini-bride. They wore dresses of blue, green, yellow, melon and lilac, respectively, with small white flowers distributed throughout.

Gene Rakovec, Greenwood, served as best man, and groomsmen were Rodney Anderson, Readstown, Dan Hill, St. Petersburg, Florida, Kenneth Jacobson, Readstown, Ray Hill, St. Petersburg, Florida, and Ed Hill, Readstown, mini-groom. Ushering duties were performed by Robert Hill, Readstown and Gary Gadke, Loyal.

A reception was held at Soldiers Grove American Legion after the wedding, and there was a dance at Dave & Fran’s, Soldiers Grove at 8 p.m.

The bride graduated from Kickapoo High School and attended UW-Baraboo/Sauk County Campus for one semester. She is employed at NCR, Viroqua. The groom graduated from Loyal High School and is employed at Rollohome, Marshfield.

Following a wedding trip to La Cross, they will reside at rural Marshfield.

There was a reception held on October 20 at the Arnold Gadke home, Loyal.

Senior Master Sergeant James N. Hefner, son of Katie Hefner of 307 Begley, Greenwood, has graduated from the nine-week Air Force Senior Non-commissioned Officer Academy of Gunter Air Force Station, Alabama.

Sergeant Hefner studied advanced management techniques, communications skills and behavioral science. The academy is the Air Force’s highest professional military school for non-commissioned officers.

The sergeant has returned to Hill Air Force Base, Utah, where he is an aircraft maintenance superintendent with a unit of the Air Force Logistics Command.

Sergeant Hefner is a 1962 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School, Marshfield.

News: Loyal – New Upholstery Business (Oct 1979)

Quality Upholstering, a new business in Loyal, is now operating at 305 Thomas Street. The new business features any type of upholstery work from automobile upholstery to household furnishings.

Peter Potter will be doing the upholstery work. Potter came to Loyal from West Virginia last July, where he operated an upholstery business for the last six years. He also has one year of experience I furniture re-finishing.

Potter says he plans to do furniture refinishing work as soon as he is established with the upholstery business. He provides free upholstery estimates and will pick up and deliver free of charge in a 20 mile radius. He says Quality Upholstery has many fabrics and patterns to choose from. The business also handles foam rubber for cushions. All work is guaranteed. Potter hopes to move to a new business as the business expands.
