Many years ago William Nogle of the town of Unity (Clark Co., Wis.), was
employed by Ted E. Emling at his farm home west of this city, and during the
period of time he was with the family, he won the heart of that old pioneer,
Ted. Only about two weeks ago Mr. Nogle was taken very ill with pneumonia
and it was thought he was doomed to cross the Great Divide, so his old
friend Ted was sent for, and you can bet it didn’t take him long to land by
the bedside of his old comrade.
Ted got into his “nurse suit” at once and went to work on the patient, where
he lost no time for eight days and seven nights, and being under the careful
directions of Dr. F. A. Soles, watching for the turning point of his
patient, on which he could not gable where it would be life or death.
At last the hour came, and when Dr. told Ted that Mr. Nogle was beyond all
danger, we dare say there never was a happier man in this neck of the woods
that Ted Emling. We are glad to note that Mr. Nogle is now on the road to
recovery, although it will be sometime before he will again be able to
attend to his duties about his home. A true friends in need, “is a friend
indeed.”
