Haas, Elizabeth (1 August 1893 – 15 July 1975)
A longtime Neillsville resident, Mrs. Elizabeth Haas of Memorial Home, died
Tuesday, July 15, at the age of 81. Funeral services were held Friday from
St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Henseler officiating. Burial
was in the parish cemetery. The Rosary was recited Thursday evening at the
Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, where the body of Mrs. Haas was in state.
The daughter of John and Caroline Kemmeter Aumann, she was born August 1,
1893, at Jefferson and came to the Neillsville area with her parents as a
small girl. She was educated in schools here. Her marriage to Jake Haas took
place October 2, 1917, in Neillsville. Mr. Haas preceded his wife in death
in 1962.
Mrs. Haas, who lived in Neillsville throughout her adult lifetime, spent the
past few years in Memorial Home because of failing health. She was a member
of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and of St. Mary’s Circle of its PCCW.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Mary Gaden of Neillsville, and two
brothers, Gottleib Aumann of Milwaukee and Henry Aumann of Loyal.
Pallbearers were her nephews, Walter Aumann, Clarence Aumann, Louis Aumann,
Henry Aumann, Jr., Paul Ampe, Sr., and Lawrence Hrach.
The choir sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Mrs. Glenn Short was the organist.
Among those attending the services were the following from out of town, Mrs.
Haas’ brothers, Gottlieb Aumann of Milwaukee and Henry Auman, Sr., and Mrs.
Aumann of Loyal; Ed Kemmeter, Florence Kemmeter and Aaron Aumann, Jefferson;
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ampe, Marlene Ampe, Karen Ampe, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Miller,
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Aumann, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Aumann, Jr., Mr. and Mrs.
Urban Aumann and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schmidt, Loyal; Jenette Bentzler and Cletus
Susa, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Aumann, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Pat
Moratek, Cadott; Elsie Adler, Minneapolis, Mn.
