Schmidtke, Henry (27 February 1893 – 19 July 1975)
Word has been received by relatives in Granton concerning the death of Henry
Schmidtke, 82, a Town of Fremont native who died July 19 in Lidgerwood,
N.D., where he had lived for many years. A brother, Ernest Schmidtke of
Menasha, together with Leo Dankemeyer of Chili, left Monday to attend the
services in Lidgerwood Tuesday.
Henry Schmidtke, the son of Herman and Augusta Schultz Schmidtke, was born
February 27, 1893, in the Town of Fremont. As a young man, he went to North
Dakota to work in the harvest fields, and remained to farm there throughout
his active life. Mr. Schmidtke, a member of the Lutheran church, had been in
poor health for some time and had been incapacitated since undergoing
surgery in February.
Survivors include his wife, the former Eva Strete; two brothers, Ernest of
Menasha and Herman of Nipomo, Ca.; and one sister, Mrs. Earl (Ella) Dumas of
Tacoma, Wa.
