Fredrick, Shirley A. (6 AUG 1931 – 14 MAR 1999)

OWEN – Shirley Ann Fredrick, 67, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died at 11:55 p.m. march 14, 1999 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Church of Christ in Owen. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix, pastor of the First United Church of Chris in Colby, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery near Withee. Serving as pallbearers will be Harry Ploog, Tom Kassie, Rick Sowieja, Joseph Stiemann, Albert Buss and Ken Engel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen.

The former Shirley Ann Johnson was born August 6, 1931, in Marshfield, the daughter of Carl and Dana (Lambie) Johnson. After he graduation from Draper-Loretta High School, Shirley was employed at a jewelry store in Marshfield, and in the summers was working at the Hines Resort at Mason Lake near Fifield.

Shirley and Daniel Fredrick were united in marriage on October 9, 1954, at the United Church of Christ in Park Falls. Together they farmed in the town of Green Grove (Clark Co.) until 1995, when the farm was purchased by her sons.

Shirley was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Owen, teaching Sunday School, and held many positions, including president of the UCC Ladies Fellowship. Shirley and Dan Traveled for 29 years to Wyoming for Elk hunting, which they mutually enjoyed.

Shirley will be dearly missed by her husband Dan Fredrick of Owen; two sons, David (Mary) Fredrick and Denis Fredrick, all of Owen; one daughter, Linda Fredrick of Oregon, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Nikki, Dylan, Jessi and Dustin; and one brother, Wayne (Sandra) Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will establish a memorial in her name for the Marshfield Cancer Research Foundation.
