Albert, Julia (22 JUL 1908 – 20 APR 2000)
OWEN - Julia Albert, 92, Owen, died Friday, April 20,2001, at the Rosewood
Villa Retirement Center in Thorp, where she had resided since May of 2000.
Funeral services for Julia will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, at
the United Church of Christ in Owen. Rev. Robert Everhard, pastor, and
former pastor Rev. Ralph Claybaugh will officiate. Burial will be in
Riverside Cemetery in Withee.
Visitation with family and friends will be from 1:30 p.m. until service time
Monday at the church.
The former Julia Thorson was born July 22,1908, in the town of Longwood,
rural Withee, the daughter of Tobias and Helen (nee Erickson) Thorson. She
received her early education in the town of Longwood and was a 1926 graduate
of Withee High School. Julia was employed with the National Tea Company in
Minneapolis from 1928 until 1933. She and Edgar T. Albert were united in
marriage on May 27,1933, in Minneapolis.
Julia and Edgar were very active in the Owen-Withee Ladies fellowship,
serving as president, secretary, treasurer and chairperson of her Circle for
five years, sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School.
Julia was on the Withee Library Board from 1953 to 1972, and also served on
the election I board for the village of Withee for I eight years. She and
Edgar were I former owners of Owen-Withee I Motors, retiring in 1971. She
will always be remembered for her homemade bread I and cookie baking.
Besides many Mends and relatives, Julia will be dearly missed by her two
sons, Ron (Mary Alice) Albert of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Darrell
(Joan) Albert of Owen; a sister, Mildred Grimes of Owen; five grandchildren,
Donna Jean (Chip) Weber of Scottsdale, Ariz., Randy (Shari) Albert of Hatley,
David Albert of Howards Grove, Dean (Heather) Albert of Elora, Tenn., and
Ted (Christina) Albert of Huntsville, Ala.; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Albert on Nov. 13,1988; and
six sisters, Lill Haire, Nell Haire, Ella Snyder, Sadie Thorson, Edna Bowen
and Bess Thorson.
Maurina Funeral Home of Owen assisted the family with arrangements.
