Barrett, Geneva P. (3 OCT 1909 – 1986?)
GREENWOOD – Mrs. Verland (Geneva P.) Barrett, 77, Route 1, Greenwood, died
Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Christian and Missionary
Alliance Church, Owen, with Revs. Dennis Thomas and Warren Worden
officiating. Private family graveside committal services will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, is
handling arrangements.
She was born Oct. 3, 1909, in the town of Warner, to Calvin and Lottie
Davis. She attended the LaTart School in the town of Beaver and was a
graduate of Greenwood High School. She then received teachers' training in
Neillsville.
She was married to Verland L. Barrett Sept. 27, 1927, in Winona, Minn. He
survives. She taught in rural schools for several years and was a teacher in
Greenwood area schools for many years. Her teaching career spanned more than
50 years.
Surviving, besides her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Worden of
Greenwood; a son, James of Marblehead, Mass.; a brother, Orville Davis of
Marshfield; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, and a son, Duane.
