Ballerstein, Maxine R. (21 Aug. 1933 - 25 Dec. 2008)

Maxine R. Ballerstein, 75, Marshfield, died Thur., Dec. 25, 2008, at the Hewitt House. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wed., Dec. 31, 2008, at Saint John's Lutheran Church, (high steeple on Huckleberry Road) town of Wien, Marathon County.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time Wed.. Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI), Marshfield, is assisting the family.

Maxine R. Ballerstein, 75, Marshfield, died Thur., Dec. 25, 2008, at the Hewitt House, where she had resided since Oct. 9.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wed., Dec. 31, 2008, at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church (high steeple on Huckleberry Road), town of Wien, Marathon County. The Rev. Matthew Christians will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church Wed. from 9 a.m. until service time. Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI), Marshfield, is assisting the family.

Mrs. Ballerstein was born April 21, 1933, in Pittsville to Herman and Hilda (Vergenz) Krampien. As a child, she moved to Edgar with her parents and was a graduate of Edgar High School.

Before her marriage, she worked at W.P.S. Blueshield in Wausau. On September 22, 1951, she married Delbert E. Ballerstein at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, town of Wien. After their marriage, the Ballersteins farmed in the town of Frankfort until June 1978. They then moved to Stratford, and she worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory, Marshfield, for 25 years.

Maxine was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She enjoyed painting ceramics, gardening, plastic canvas crafts, making gifts and was famous for her baked beans. Her family and get-togethers were most important to her.

She is survived by her husband, Delbert, of Marshfield, and ten children, Delaine (Philip) Carlson of Marshfield, Sharon Kaiser of Marshfield, Del (Susan) Ballerstein of Edgar, Debra (Gordy) Schmitt of Abbotsford, Dale (Jean) Ballerstein of Westfield, N.Y., Sandy (Randy) Reynolds of Milan, Lori (Alan) Schmitt of Colby, Lynn Ballerstein of Marshfield, James Ballerstein of Marshfield, and Mary (Shelley) Ballerstein of Appleton. She is also survived by twenty five grandchildren, Nathan (Jeanna) Carlson, Brandon (Stefanie) Carlson, Christopher (Danyelle) Kaiser, Ryan (Jami) Kaiser, Adam (Monica) Kaiser, Anna Kaiser, Tracey (Matt) Weiland, Troy (Kathy) Ballerstein, Trent Ballerstein, Trevor Ballerstein, Rachelle Schmitt, Shawn (Jenna) Schmitt, Carrie Morris, Caitlin Ballerstein, Tyler (friend-Lauralee) Krebsbach, Stephanie Reynolds, Amanda Reynolds, Courtney Krebsbach, Daniel Reynolds, Angel Reynolds, Evan Krebsbach, Autumn (Billy) Schmitt, Cheyanne (Troy) Schmitt, Janessa Schmitt, and Mya Sternhagen and eight great-grandchildren, Kage and Kolton Carlson, Addison, Brice, Annalia and Allyson Kaiser, Fletcher Weiland and Kaden Reynolds. She is further survived by a sister, Margaret (Roy) Rusch of West Bend.

She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, John and Everett Krampien, a sister, Edith Schafer, and a sister, Mary Ellen in infancy.

A memorial in her name will be designated at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Debbie and the staff at the Hewitt House for their loving care and support for their mother and her family.
