Mrs. Keskimaki was born in 1912 in Michigan and came to a farm NW of Withee
in 1913, in a part of the Clark Area where many Finns had settled. Her
parents had come directly from Finland to work in Michigan.
After her education she taught school for fifteen years. She helped get the
Clark County Historical Society organized. She was very active in getting
the Withee Library brought into the modern age. After retiring she moved to
Withee and again taught school for three years in the Title One programs.
She has written many articles on the Finns and many have been published. She
spent summers working at the outdoor museum for the State Historical Society
in Eagle, WI., in the Finn area of the museum. They were very happy to have
someone that spoke the language and had a firsthand knowledge of the part
she was taking.
