William Wood Withee was the son of Niram and Louis; Withee and had the
Withee Longwood Farm. This home was built so the hired hands were on one
side of the building and the Withee family on the other side. He had stone
hauled from Hemlock to Longwood for the octagon goat barn on the west side
of the river near the bridge in 1902. He owned many acres of land along the
Popple River in the early 1900s. The home was razed in 1972 by owner Henry
Luraas as the buildings were decaying.
