Chas. Larsen Blacksmith Shop - Mr. Larsen was born in Bornholm in 1865. Here
he learned the blacksmith trade. At age 20 he came to America and lived with
his sister in Iowa, then for a couple of years with his brother in Dakota
where he did blacksmith work. In 1894 he came to Withee and worked for the
J.S. Owen Lumber company until 1902 when he went in business for himself.
For 43 years he ran a blacksmith shop and a farm implement business. He was
for some years a member of the village council, also a trustee of the Withee
Bank. His blacksmith shop was located where the Hardware Specialty stood and
his home was to the north of that.
Mary Albrecht, Athens, Mr. Larsen's great niece
