Schlais, Betty J. (23 May 1931 – 5 Jan. 2009)
MEDFORD -- Betty J. Schlais, 77, of the town of Browning died Monday, Jan.
5, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church,
Medford. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Medford
Evergreen Cemetery II at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hemer Funeral Home, and
also at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
She was born May 23, 1931, in the town of Browning to Reuben and Frieda
(Schmidt) Knorr. She was united in marriage June 10, 1950, at Immanuel Ev.
Lutheran Church to Lawrence Schlais.
For most of her life, she was a homemaker and also was a home care giver for
five years. In her retirement, she worked as a driver for Comfort Carriers.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Schlais of the town of Browning;
her children, Peggy (Darrell) Korth of Fort Atkinson, Larry (Wenda Schwoch)
Schlais of Minneapolis, Minn., Lenard (Pat Short) Schlais of Medford, Donna
(Darwin) Zielke of Medford and Irene (Greg) Griepentrog of Marshfield; 12
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roy (Cordy) Knorr
of Manitowoc.
