The Midway Bar was built around the turn of the century and was run by John
Laneville and John Awe and later by Fred and Cora Paholke. Mike and Ruth
Krach owned it from 1942 to 1945 or 46 and sold to John and Franny Frystak,
who owned it till May of 1949. Bill and Tyrni Veurink and Nibbs and Mae
Bruchert ran it from May of 1949 to 1964, when Nibbs and Mae took over and
ran it through June of 1970.
Dale Ball was the owner from June 1970 to 1975 when Ed and Marjean Cizek and
Tom and Darla Kuester took over and ran it until July of 1978. Barry and
Gerry Fetting ran it until January of 1999 when the present owners, Joe and
Judy Konwinski took over.
A poster from May 1, 1950 lists the following prices: Whiskies, 250 to 500
per drink; Beer, per bottle: 12 oz. local 200, 12 oz. foreign 250,7 or 8 oz.
150,6 pack foreign $1.20. Pop and Sodas 100, cigarettes 250 pkg, 2 for 450.
