College Notes (Honors/Scholarships – August 2019)
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has announced those students who
completed degree requirements in August.
One of the students earning a degree was Karlie Kiel of Loyal, according to
the Oct. 4 release. Kiel earned with a bachelor of arts degree in theatre
arts with a design/technical emphasis. She graduated with honors.
Scholarships valued at more than $812,000 were awarded to 418 UW-Stout
students this year through Stout University Foundation.
The students received the awards during a scholarship reception on campus
Sept. 12. Many of the scholarship donors and members of the board attended
to present the awards to the recipients.
Local scholarship recipients are as follows. Students are listed by their
hometown, name, major and scholarship(s).
Dorchester: Rachel Kaatz, interior design, Dick Grum Scholarship; Tara
Weber, family and consumer sciences education, Jeannette Slamen Houle
Endowed Scholarship, Ester and Herman Kolbenschlag Endowed Scholarship;
Greenwood: Natalie Hackel, business administration, Dick Grum Scholarship;
Hannah Hinker, packaging, Dick Grum Scholarship, Resilience Scholarship;
Angela Kowal, rehabilitation services, Dick Grum Scholarship; Brianna North,
early childhood education, Dick Grum Scholarship;
Loyal: Blain Schmidt, engineering technology, Dick Grum Scholarship.
Established in 1963, the scholarship program has helped more than 10,068
students receive a college education. Through the financial support of
Alumni, parents, faculty and staff, and friends of the university, the
program has awarded more than $13.9 million over the years.
