Mroz, Clarence R. (25 MAR 1931 – 11 OCT 2019)
Clarence R. Mroz, age 88, of Thorp, WI, passed away on October 11,2019, at
Dove Healthcare - Wissota Health.
Clarence was born on March 25, 1931, in the Town of Withee, rural Thorp, the
son of Felix and Ramie (Zuzelski) Mroz. He was raised on the family farm and
attended Thorp schools. On September 10, 1955, Clarence was united in
marriage to Alice Strzok at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in rural Thorp.
They assumed operation of his parents' dairy farm and also ran a logging
business in the Thorp and Gilman areas for many years.
Clarence had many interests, including bowling, golfing, dancing, traveling,
and spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted fan of all
Wisconsin sports teams and followed them faithfully. Clarence loved spending
time outdoors and took great pride in the harvest his farmland and woodland
produced. He resided on the same farm his entire life until shortly before
his passing. His strong work ethic, generosity, and kind-heartedness will be
remembered by all who knew him.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Terry
Halida of Chippewa Falls; sisters: Theresa Javore of Menomonee Falls, and
Alice (Edwin) Bishop of Franklin; brother-in-law, Louis Wehlacz of Glendora,
CA; sister-in-law, Delores Strzok of Thorp; several nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. Clarence was preceded in death by his beloved wife of
61 years, Alice, on January 20, 2017; his parents; two brothers: Chester and
John Mroz; and three sisters: Rose Zuber, Mary Bertram, Agnes Bogacz; as
well as six brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at
St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Parish in Thorp, concelebrated by Rev. John Schultz
and Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu. Burial will follow in Old St. Hedwig's
Catholic Cemetery with his nephews serving as pallbearers. Visitation will
be held at the church, on October 17 from 11 a.m. until time of service.
Cheryl and Terry would like to thank the wonderful staff at HSHS St.
Joseph's Hospital and Dove Healthcare - Wissota Health for their exceptional
care and support in the final weeks of his life. In lieu of flowers, please
