Porter, Roderick A. (1910? - 7 Jan. 2009)
Roderick A. Porter, 98, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., died Jan. 7, 2009.
He was the son of Arthur Amasa and Mary (Rhinesmith) Porter (deceased), husband of Kathryn Porter (deceased), brother of Gladys Porter (deceased) and Hazel Porter Gay (deceased), father of sons, Ray of Cary, Ill., and Robert Porter of Lakewood, Ohio, and grandfather of Joel and Glenn Porter.
Roderick was formerly the fire chief of Portage, Marshfield (1948-1950) and Winnetka, Ill., from which position he retired after 25 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodges No. 33 of Ft. Winnebago, Tripoli Shrine and Scottish Rite, a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs Great Lakes Division and the Saint Stephens Episcopal Church in Horseshoe Bend, Ark. His hobbies included model trains and cars, circus wagons and photography. He was a diehard fan of the Green Bay Packers, to which his many friends can attest.
A visitation will be held at the Barker Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel in Horseshoe Bend, Ark., on Thur., Jan. 15, 2009, from 3 to 7 p.m., under the direction of Barker Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
