Walters, Marsha (Marriage – 28 June 1975)
A former Neillsville High School teacher, Miss Marsha Walters, became the
bride of Dan Bickel in an afternoon ceremony performed June 28 at the First
Congregational Church in McGregor, Ia., by the Rev. Oliver Larkin. A
reception followed in the church fellowship hall.
The new Mrs. Bickel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burton I. Walters, Sr.,
McGregor, was presented in marriage by her father. The groom is the son of
the late Herbert E. Bickel and Mrs. Ruth Bickel, also of McGregor.
Daisy lace appliqued nylon organza fashioned the bride’s high-neckline gown
styled with a pearl accented bodice, long, fitted sleeves ending in venise
lace edged cuff ruffling and a flounced princess skirt extending into a
chapel train. Her bandeau headpiece of matching venise lace held a fingertip
veil edged in daisy applique. She carried a cascade arrangement of white
roses and green, pink, blue and yellow tinted carnations with stephanotis.
Mrs. Mary Knapp of Genoa, Il., was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were
Miss JoAnne Hammers, Neillsville, Miss Kathy Hendrickson, La Crosse, and
Mrs. Lyle Troester, Platteville. Their gown of polyester dotted swiss in
shades of green, blue, yellow and pink, respectively, were accented by white
picture hats with matching ribbons. Baskets of daisies and colored
carnations to match the dresses completed their ensembles.
The groom was attended by James Snook, McGregor, as bestman and by Richard
Walters, McGregor, Doug Bickel, St. Paul, Mn., and Lyle Troester,
Platteville, as groomsmen. Ushering duties were shared by Burton Walters,
Jr., McGregor, and Bruce Bickel, Des Moines, Ia.
Terri and Burton Walters III, niece and nephew of the bride, served as
Candle lighters.
Miss Teresa Egen was the soloist and Miss Dorothy Huebsch, the organist.
The bride is a graduate of Winona State College, Winona, Minn., and was a
teacher at Neillsville High School for the past four years. Her husband, a
graduate of Upper Iowa College, Fayette, Ia., is the manager of a loan firm
in McGregor, where they are making their home.
