Page, Alfred H. (5 Aug. 1916 - 12 Jan. 2009)

Alfred H. Page, 92, former longtime resident and business owner in Marshfield, died Mon., Jan. 12, 2009, in Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tues., Jan. 20, 2009, at Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

The Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home of Marshfield is assisting the family with arrangements. A complete obituary will be published in the News-Herald later this week.

Alfred H. Page, 92, former resident of Marshfield for 54 years, died Mon., Jan. 12, 2009, at Burnet, Texas.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tues., Jan. 20, 2009, at the Faith Lutheran Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Tricia Turner will officiate. Special music will be provided by Gary Laehn, with Maldon Plank serving as organist. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Mon., Jan. 19 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Marshfield, and again from 10 a.m. until service time at the church on Tues.. BPOE Lodge No. 665 will hold a Lodge of Sorrow at the funeral home on Mon. at 6 p.m.

Alfred was born on August 5, 1916, in Pelican Rapids, Minn., to George H. and Ruth Kinney Page. He graduated from high school in Fergus Falls, MN.

On June 3, 1940, at Augustana Luther Church in Fergus Falls, Minn., he married Ruby E. Morrison of Montevideo, Minn. They moved to Marshfield in 1948, when Alfred assumed a partnership of St. Clair-Page. They resided at their home on Fourth Street until 2003 when they moved to Texas to be near family.

Alfred served two terms as Chamber of Commerce President and was honored by the Commerce as Retailer of the Year in 1980. He was Rotarian president, a member of the American Legion, and an officer of the Marshfield Community Chest-United Fund. In 2008, he was recognized for 70 years of membership and dedication to the Marshfield Elk's Lodge No. 665. He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church and served on its council.

A golf enthusiast, Alfred was a charter member of River Edge Golf Course. In his more active days, he enjoyed skating and chair caning.

A veteran of World War II, he served his country in the Navy in the South Pacific.

He is survived by a daughter, Ruth (David) Buss of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; a son, Jim (Rita) Page of St. Cloud, Minn.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials in Alfred's name may be designated to Faith Lutheran Church.
