Roberson, Theodore J. “Ted” (30 MAY 1905 – 9 OCT 1974)
Final rites were conducted for Theodore James “Ted” Roberson, 69, at 1:30
p.m. Friday, October 11, 1974 at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Owen. The
Rev. Fr. Alex Fraser, pastor of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church, was in
charge of the service, and burial was made at Riverside Cemetery, Withee
(Clark Co., Wis.)
Members of the Van Huizen-Fritz American Legion Post 123, Owen, conducted
military services at the graveside.
Serving as pallbearers were Henry Mauel Jr., Alan Burhop, Sam Munson, Albert
Rohland, Norbert Pabich, and Peter McMillan. Honorary pallbearers were Art
Hansen, W.K. Doonan and Henry Anderson.
The deceased passed away Wednesday, October 9, at Victory Memorial Hospital,
Stanley, where he had been a patient for a little over two weeks.
He was born May 30, 1905 at Shingington, Wisconsin, and moved to Owen (Clark
Co.) from Chicago in 1922. He worked at the former Owl Restaurant in Owen
until 1930. That year he was married to the former Mildred Weaver on October
23, and the couple them moved to Abbotsford, where he operated a restaurant
until 1943, when he entered the service, serving in the United States Navy
until 1946. After his discharge the family moved wto Owen, where he opened
Ted’s Lunch, which he operated until his retirement in 1970.
Ted was a respected businessman, an avid sports fan, and envied by many for
his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred, Owen; two sons, William and James, both
of Milwaukee; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Janke, Oxford, and Mrs. Clara
Lindner, Phoenix, Arizona; and a brother, Alfred of St. Paul, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by seven sisters and a brother.
