The newspaper business lost another editor with the sudden passing of Bob
Elkins, who has been editor of the Thorp Courier for years. Bob had a great deal
to do with building the Thorp Courier (Clark Co., Wis.) into a very good weekly
paper, and he was very devoted to his job and the city in which he lived.
When I published the Greenwood Gleaner, Bob on many occasions came to my
assistance when I needed help, and for that I was grateful.
I am sure Mr. Elkins will be missed by his family and many friend in the Thorp
area, and throughout the county. He has left his mark on this area because of
his very active newspaper career.
Bob was known as Mr. Democratic by many in the political field, and he usually
pushed and worked for his party in any way he could. He was a man with
convictions, and who could blame him for that.
So we have lost another friend and fellow editor.
