Randall J. Stanley, 62, of Humbird died Monday Feb. 16, 2009, at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Randall may have lost his battle with cancer but was a winner in life.
Randall was born Sept. 11, 1946, as an only child to Willard and Oviedga Stanley. Randall is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca, to whom he was married to for more than 40 years. Randall and Rebecca have two children, Jack and Chad Stanley. Jack is the father of two wonderful grandchildren, Elizabeth and Taylor Stanley. Chad and his wife, Randi, are the parents of two more wonderful grandchildren, Macaid and Sada Stanley.
Randall was a wonderful person, who was loved dearly by his family and in return loved them just as much. Randall enjoyed many things throughout his life. He graduated from Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan (AC-H-M) Lincoln High School in 1964 and attended the university of Wisconsin-River Falls, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education. Randall worked in education for 33 years. He taught one year at Neillsville Elementary and finished his career working for the Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan School District, where he started out as an elementary teacher. While teaching, Randall attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior part-time, until he earned his Master’s Degree in educational leadership. Soon after earning his Master’ Degree, Randall became AC-H-M School District’s Elementary principal and eventually served the district as its superintendent of schools for 16 years.
Randall and Becky have been the proud owners of Stanley’s Strawberries for over 40 years. Randall was an avid hunter and fisherman, and through his community he enjoyed these interests as a lifetime member of the North Branch Rod and Gun Club. Randall was a member of the Fairchild Lions Club for three years. Randall enjoyed trap shooting for many years and was a member of the Neillsville Rod and Gun Club.
Randall will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at 4 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta with Pastor Don King officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the north Branch Rod and Gun Club in Randy’s memory.
