Clifford H. Scheppke, 79, of 921 Pierce St. Black River Falls, died on Monday, June 7, 1999, in the Black River Falls Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 23, 1920, in the town of Little Falls, in Monroe County, to Gustav and Josephine (Tenner) Scheppke. He was raised in rural Melrose, and he graduated from the Melrose High School in 1939.
He married Freda Ryder in North Bend on May 20, 1944.
Cliff was employed at the former Van Gorden Motor Sales in Black River Falls, and he was a bulk fuel hauler for Texaco. He also worked at the former Jackson County Iron Company until his retirement in 1982.
He was a member of the Melrose American Legion Post #439.
Surviving are his wife, Freda; 3 daughters, Sandra (David) Pistorius, of Urbandale, Iowa, Cathy (Mark) Kuhlman, of Elk River, MN. and Peggy (Russell ) Peterson, of Tomah; one brother, Gorman (Margaret) Scheppke, of Melrose; 8 grandchildren, Scott and Brian Pistorius, Jeremiah ,Travis, and Derrick Kuhlman, and Matthew, Nicholas, and Lyndsey Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Violet Moe.
Funeral services were Thursday, June 10, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. from the United Methodist Church in Black River Falls. Pastor Charles Strong officiated. Burial with military honors was in the Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls. Friends called on Wednesday, June 9 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church Thursday, June 10 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services.
Honorary pallbearers were Lyndsay Peterson and Derrick Kuhlman.
Pallbearers were Scott and Brian Pistorius, Jeremiah and Travis Kuhlman, and Mathew and Nicholas Peterson.
