Christianson, Marion Maude (15 January 1911 – 20 November 2008)
Marion M. Christianson, 97, of rural Black River Falls died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in her home.
Marion Maude Hansen was born Jan. 15, 1911, in the Town of Irving (Trout Run area), Jackson County, to Thomas and Maude (Oligney) Hansen. She was raised in the Town of Irving.
She married Victor Christianson Jan. 11, 1939, and the couple lived in Black River Falls until 1969 when they moved to the Town of Albion. Victor Christianson died March 16, 1988.
Marion was employed as a clerk at Hart’s Food Market and the Gambles Store. She also had been employed at the Clifford Ristow Insurance Agency. She was proud to have earned her GED in 1980.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society and the Jackson County Bird Club. She enjoyed crocheting and traveling. She and her daughter, Darlene, spent many winters in Texas.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Christianson of Black River Falls; two sons, Thomas (Jane) Christianson of Rosemont, MN, and John (Mickie) Christianson of McFarland; two granddaughters, Amy (Daniel) Delgado of Inver Grove heights, MN, and Jennifer Christianson of Madison; a grandson, Wade Christianson of Rosemont, MN; a great-grandson, Daniel Delgado Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Felisita Delgado; a sister, LaVerne Hart of Onalaska; a brother, Wayne (Betty) Hansen of Merrillan; a sister-in-law, Bernice Hansen of Black River Falls; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Victor, Marion was preceded in death by four brothers, Steven, Vernon, Russell and Warren Hansen, and three sisters, Edna Dalby, Marcella Rockney and Frances Odenbreit.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at St. Joseph’ Catholic Church and burial was in Riverside Cemetery, both in Black River Falls. Rev. Fr. John Steiner officiated.
Family and friends were invited for visitation from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, and at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until services. There was a public prayer service at 5:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or the Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers.
