Junior LeRoy Butler, 77, of Rock Falls passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009.
He was born July 20, 1931, in Rock Falls, the son of Charles “Roy” and Anna (Feiten) Butler. He attended school at the White Block School near his home. He enlisted in the Navy. Shortly after returning, he met Caryl A. Bowen of Black River Falls. They were united in marriage April 26, 1958. They bought the home place where they raised their family.
He wore many different hats. He was a farmer, did roofing, worked at Farmers Lumberyard, Armours and Sperstad Implement. Junior loved to play cards, horseshoes, play pool, read Westerns and watch the “Wheel of Fortune.” He and Caryl opened their home to many people over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Caryl (Bowen) Butler of Rock Falls; son, Dwight (Lori) Butler of Rock Falls; daughters, Candy Butler of Rock Falls, and June (Farrin) Anderson of Arkansaw; grandchildren, Paula (Andy) Cooper of Eau Claire, Josh Butler of Rock Falls, Cherise (Dave) Weiss of Eau Claire, Shana (Eric) Brisiel of Eau Claire, Bryan Dock of Arkansaw, Cody Anderson of Arkansaw and Sam Butler of Arkansaw; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jack, Dalton, Corey and Ava; brother, Brian Butler of Rock Falls; sister, Phyllis Trice of Rock Falls; brothers-in-law, John (Rosemary) Seekamp of Illinois and Donald Ruben of Alma; sister-in-law, Eileen Butler of Rock Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Roy” and Anna (Feiten) Butler; sisters, Imogene Ruben and Janette Hagen; brother, Omer Butler; brothers-in-law, Odin Hagen and Dale Bowen; and nephew, Daniel Butler.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand with military rites by American Legion Post #181. Burial will be at a later date.
