Chester Brushafer

October 25, 1918 – February 3, 1999

Chester Brushafer, 80, of Melrose died Wednesday February 3, 1999 at Pine View Nursing Home River, Black River Falls, WI.

He was born October 25, 1918 in Park Falls, WI. to John and Elizabeth (McCluskey) Brushafer.

He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was employed by Fort McCoy for many years.

On April 2, 1962 Chester married Alice Spors in Black River Falls, WI. He was a member of the American Legion S. Lewiston Post 439.

Chester is survived by his wife. 3 stepdaughters, Donna Lee (Earl) Storandt of Sparta, Arlene (Verland) Peterson of Black River Falls, and Marian Collins of La Crosse; 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mary Brushafer of Leona, WI, Margaret Brushafer of Seattle, WA, Elizabeth Grachan of Bloomingdale, IL: 2 brothers, Ronald (Gen) Brushafer of Milwaukee and Edgar (Janet) of Fond du Lac, WI: and one sister-in-law, Inez Brushafer of Fond du Lac, WI.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dale, one step-son, a step-granddaughter and three brothers.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 1999 at the Zwickey Funeral Homes in Melrose. Fr. Thomas McInnis officiated. Burial followed with Military Honors in Melrose Cemetery.

Friends called from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Zwickey Funeral Homes in Melrose and from noon-1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Zwickey Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
