Berndt, June M (3 June 1928 – 1 December 2008)

June M. Berndt, 80, of Tomah passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at the Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.

She was born June 3, 1928, to Arthur and Anna (Ringer) Boeltor in Markesan. She was united in marriage to Frederick Berndt Dec. 28, 1946, in Fairwater.

June worked as a cook in the Black River Falls area, Betty’s Café in Hixton and the Pines Restaurant in Black River Falls.

In her spare time, June loved reading and doing crosswords, knitting and flowers.

She was a member of St. John’s Ladies Aid. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Frederick; her sons, Elmer (Pat) Berndt of Stoughton, Mark (Ronda) Berndt of Tunnel City and David Berndt of Tomah; her daughter, Sharon Tollefson of Neillsville; a brother, Lyle (June) Boeltor of Markesan; and a sister, Viola Flegner of Randolph; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Anna; a brother, Clarence Boeltor; and a sister, Dora Mielke.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, 11 a.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor Mark Benning will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah.

Family and friends are invited for visitation Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
