Mason, Steven M. (23 September 1950 – 3 April 2009) With Flag

Steven M. Mason, 58, of New Berlin passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, at his home after a year-long battle with cancer.

Steven was born September 23, 1950 at Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse to Robert and Geneva (Jacobson) Mason. He grew up on the family farm in Kenyon Valley, just west of Black River Falls, and graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1968.

Steven Mason married Kimberly Brockman July 25, 1981.

Steve was employed for 37 years by the Wisconsin Power Company in Milwaukee as a mechanical engineer. He was very instrumental in the building of the Oak Creek Power Plant. He took great pride in his work and in his family. Steve was a very beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Every year he always looked forward to deer hunting with his brothers on the family farm. Steve was also a Vietnam veteran, having served in the army from 1970 to 1972.

Steve is survived by his wife, Kim; his son, David of Chicago; and daughter, Katie at home. He is also survived by his mother, Geneva Mason of Hixton; brothers, Jim (Kathy) Mason and Douglas (Nancy) Mason, both of Black River Falls, and Mark (Karin) of New Berlin; his sister, Nancy (Larry) Allen of La Crosse; and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Robert Mason.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 4 p.m. at the Whitnall Park Lutheran Church in Hales Corners. Friends called at the Krause Funeral Home in New Berlin Tuesday, April 7, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and may also call at the church Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
