Dale R. Overlien, 66, of Black River Falls passed away Fridays, April 17, 2009, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, surrounded by is family.
Dale Roger Overlien was born June 1, 1942, in Black River Falls to Glenn and Luella (Nelson) Overlien. He was raised in the Black River Falls area and graduated from Black River Falls High School. He later attended Western Technical College, La Crosse, where he studied diesel mechanics.
He married Gwendolyn Gwen Luella Bowen June 15, 1963, at the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church. Dale and Gwen made their home in rural Black River Falls all of their married lives.
Dale retired from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources after 39 ½ years of service. Following his retirement, he became employed part time tat the Federation Cooperative of Black River Falls.
He filled his life spending tiem with his family and pursuing his hobbies, which included buying and selling, traveling, attending auctions, camping and working in his shop.
He was a member of the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen; his children, Ron (Tammy) Overlien, Sue Hertz, Tam (Greg) Burgau, and Dan (Tanya) Overlien, all of Black River Falls; his grandchildren, Sam and Matt Overlien, Ryan, Arik, Nicole and Leif hertz, Dusty and Gunner Burgau and Kiley and Kasey Overlien; a great-granddaughter, Isabella hertz; and two brothers, Gene (Mary) Overlien of Nashua, IA, and JOHN (Charlotte) Overlien of Black River Falls.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Luella Overlien, and his best friend and buddy his dog Jake.
Services were held Monday, April 20, 2009, at Buswell Funeral Home. Family and friends were invited for visitation Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls.
Buswell Funeral Home of Black River Falls assisted the family with arrangements.
