Johnson, Otto L. (22 July 1935 – 7 December 2008) With Flag

Otto L. Johnson, 73, of Black River Falls and formerly of Hixton died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Otto was born July 22, 1935, in Black River Falls, to parents Otto and Edna (Matthews) Johnson Sr. Following his graduation from high school, he served in the U. S. Navy. He married Wanda Parker July 27, 1957, in Black River Falls. He lived in Jackson County most of his life.

Otto was employed as a truck driver for Ludeman’s South Alma Cheese Factory and also for Kwik Trip for many years. He was a member of the Black River Falls VFW Post 1959.

Otto will be remembered as a very generous and hardworking individual. He enjoyed reading Western novels and watching Westerns on television. He also liked listening to country-western music, especially Ernest Tubbs and Grand Ole Opry. He also had a talent for restoring old cars.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; three sons, Robert L. Johnson of Milwaukee, Jeffery (Toni) Johnson of Hixton and Ed Johnson of Alma Center; one daughter, Susan (Charles ) Berna of Hixton; three brothers, Ervin (Theresa) Johnson of Hixton, Edward (Dee) Johnson of Nevada and Robert (Shirley) Johnson of Black River Falls; one sister, Christine (Dick) Dormady of Black River Falls; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; besides many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by an infant son, Vonnie Bruce, and by his daughter-in-law, Debra Johnson.

Funeral services for Otto L. Johnson will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton. Burial with military rites by the Black River Falls American Legion Post 200 and the VFW Post 1959 will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

Casketbearers will be Charles Berna, Adam Hutzenbuhler, Lance Hutzenbuhler, Dave Johnson, Edward Johnson and Joel Johnson. Honorary bearers will be Jason Johnson, Jeff Johnson and Larry Parker.
