Stenulson, Carol Jean (19 May 1947 – 18 May 2009)
Carol J. Stenulson, 61, of Black River Falls died unexpectedly Monday, May 18, 2009 at Black River Memorial Hospital.
Carol Jean DeWolf was born May 19, 1947, in Black River Falls to John and Mary Grace (DeLonge) DeWolf. She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School.
She married Donald F. Stenulson Dec. 4, 1965, in Black River Falls. The couple lived in the Black River Falls area all of their married lives. Carol and Don were blessed with a son Greg E. Stenulson, in 1973. Don died Jan. 14, 2002.
In addition to being a housewife, she also served as caregiver for her mother, Mary Grace DeWolf; her mother-in-law, Jenny Stenulson; and other family members. Carol was also employed at the Town of Albion Landfill.
She was a member of the Squaw Creek Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and her cats. Carol also was a great listener.
Carol was a three-year breast cancer survivor and had received cancer treatments at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center of La Crosse.
Survivors include her son, Greg E. Stenulson of Black River Falls; two sisters, Rosella Tollefson of Black River Falls and Betty (Warren) Bakke of Fergus Falls, MN; a brother, Richard (Delores) DeWolf of Carleton, TX; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte (George) Voeller of Princeton, MN, and Joyce DeWolf of Minneapolis, MN; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Grace DeWolf; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Genevieve “Jenny” Stenulson; a sister, Theresa DeWolf; and two brothers, James and Arthur DeWolf.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, at the Squaw Creek Lutheran Church, and burial will be in St. Malachy’s Cemetery, both in rural Black River Falls. Rev. Calvin Thoreson will officiate.
Family and friends are invited for visitation Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls and at the church Friday from noon until services.
Memorials may be given to either Squaw Creek Lutheran Church or St. Malachy’s Catholic Church.
