Nerby, Arthur Adrian (10 November 1915 – 12 May 2009)
Arthur Adrian Nerby, 93, of Mission Township, Crow Wing County, MN, passed away May 12, 2009, at his home. He was born Nov. 10, 1915, in Curran Township, Jackson County, to Julius and Edna (Amlee) Nerby. He married Marlos C. Bedal April 19, 1941, in Inglewood, CA.
He was a retired railroad foreman with 30 years service with the Northern Pacific Soo Line and a mechanic with Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, CA and Chicago plants for five years. In 1935 he worked with the CCC at Camp Long Lake and Double Bend in Wisconsin.
He was a member of the Crosslake Lutheran Church in Crosslake, MN; Cuyuna Range Masonic Lodge #276, Crosby, MN; and past master serving in 1968; Royal Arch Masons, Brainerd, MN Chapter 42; Ascalon Knights templar, Commandery No. 16, Brainerd, MN; AAD Temple Shrine of Duluth, MN; Aadzuhman Shrine Club of Brainerd, MN; Order of Eastern Star, Evergreen Chapter # 204, Crosby, MN; Loyal Order of Moose #1246, Brainerd, MN; and life member Fraternal Order of Elks #615, Brainerd, MN.
He is survived by his son, Adrian (Connie) Nerby, Atlantic City, WY; daughter, Earlene Shearing, Blaine, MN; brother, Myron Nerby of Hixton; two sisters, Elvina Dambach, Black River Falls, and Verna Rae Stine, Lakewood, CA; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlos; son-in-law, Jim Shearing; four brothers, Nuelan, Julian, Elvin and Harlan Nerby; and one sister, Annie Linberg.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday May 18, 2009 at Crosslake Lutheran Church in Crosslake, MN. Burial was at the Mission Township Cemetery. Friends called Monday one hour prior to the services.
