Melrose
Lucille Reser, 85, of Melrose died Wednesday Sept. 30, 2009, at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls.
She was born June 25, 1924, in Aredale, Iowa, to William James and Edna (Cutler) Hawe. She was united in marriage to Robert Reser in Aredale on June 28, 1942. Lucille helped her husband farm in Iowa until moving to Melrose to farm in 1961. At the same time, she worked at various jobs outside the home both in Iowa and Wisconsin. In 1976 the couple moved to the village of Melrose, and she was employed at the Rose Cafe for 11 years before retiring in 1987.
Lucille was a member of the Melrose United Methodist Church and its Joy Circle, and the West Indies Homemakers. She had a special love for her family, flowers, gardening and her dogs.
Survivors are two daughters, Sandra Verse of Melrose and Nancy Stensven of Black River Falls; six grandchildren, Joe (Cathleen) Verse of Harker Heights, Texas, Jim (Tanya) Verse of Holmen, Sharla McBain-Stensven of Melrose, Sherilyn (Scott) Knoll of Melrose, Steven Stensven of Rochester, Minn., and Shaylea Stensven of Madison; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen (Don) Dyer of Naples, Fla; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; her parents; an infant brother, Dale Hawe; her stepmother, Wanda Hawe; and her two beloved and trusted dogs, Gypsie and Mopsie.
Funeral services will be at 1p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Melrose United Methodist Church, with the Rev Lon Jury officiating. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Zwickey Funeral Homes, Melrose Chapel, and on Monday at the church from noon until service time.
