Rose, James F. “Jim” (3 March 1939 – 17 June 2009)

James F. “Jim” Rose, 70, of Taylor died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of the Black River Hospice.

Jim was born March 3, 1939, in Necedah to parents James J. and Mabel (Johnson) Rose.  He married Mary Bue May 12, 1956, in Taylor. The couple made their home in Springfield Township and wintered in Florida for the past five years.

Jim was employed in silo construction for over 25 years, working for several different companies, the longest being the Madison Silo Company.  He retired in 2001.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and kidding around with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fishing and flower gardening.  He was especially talented in growing roses, cultivating a “two hundred blossom rose bush.”  Traveling was another special interest of Jim’s.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Brad (Diane) Rose of Longwood, FL, and Brian Rose of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Peggy (Randy) Steig of Evanston, WY, and Connie (James) Killian of Independence; two brothers, Bill (Shan) Rose of Taylor and Daryl Rose of Thailand; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; besides many other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pat Hove.

Funeral services for James F. “Jim” Rose were held Monday, June 22, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Taylor Lutheran Church with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, rural Taylor.  Reverend Benjamin Ahles-Iverson officiated.  Friends called at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and also one hour prior to services at the church.

Casketbearers were: James Killian, Jr., Jason Killian, Brandon Przybilla, Brad Rose Jr., Shane Rose and Nathan Steig.
