Lee, Caroline M (17 October 1921 – 18 August 2009)

 

Caroline M. Lee, 87, of Black River Falls, formerly of New Lisbon, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at the Family Heritage Nursing Home in Black River Falls.

 

Caroline was born Oct. 17, 1921, in the Town of Fountain to J. Conrad and Mabel (Nelson) Ormson.  Caroline was a graduate of the New Lisbon High School and later attended Juneau County Teacher’s College for two years.  She grew up on her parents’ farm just outside of New Lisbon.  Caroline taught grades one through eight at the Red School.

 

Caroline was united in marriage to Arthur Lee June 7, 1947, at her parents’ home.  After her marriage, they farmed in the Lindina Township.  She also worked as a receptionist for Dr. Cox Eye Clinic in Mauston.  She was a member of East Lemonweir Lutheran Church.  Caroline was an active member in her church and also headed up the Sunday school program for several years.  She enjoyed gardening, needlework and playing the piano.

 

After retirement, they moved to Holmen for several years, later moving to Black River Falls for 15 years, two of which she has been in the nursing home.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Steven) Stapleton of Black River Falls and Constance (Gerald) Wolfgram of Mauston, and by a son, Roger (Julie) Lee of Onalaska; a sister, Mary Louise Lee of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Karen (James) Roellich, Jeffrey Stapleton, Amy Wolfgram, Paul Wolfgram and Jason (Emily) Lee; and a great-granddaughter Annika Caroline Lee.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Arthur, in 2007.

 

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at noon at East Lemonweir Lutheran Church, rural Elroy, with Pastor Wendy Ruetten presiding.  Relatives and friends called at the church Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at noon.  Burial was in the Mauston City Cemetery.

 

The Hare Funeral Home assisted the family with services.
