Nielsen, Richard W. (5 October 1933 – 16 September 2009)

 

Richard W. Nielsen, age 75, of Black River Falls and formerly of Waukesha, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in the Black River Memorial Hospital.

 

Richard was born in Waukesha Oct. 5, 1933, to Anton and Dorothea (Owens) Nielsen.

 

He graduated from Waukesha High School and married Louise Ann Inglehearn in Waukesha on May 29, 1954.

 

He worked for 39 years at the Waukesha Water Utility.  He retired April 12, 1994, as superintendent of construction at the utility.

 

In 1970, Richard and Louise became seasonal residents in the Town of Manchester in Jackson County.  In 1994, they became full time residents.

 

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Louise; one son, Russell (Leslie) Nielsen, Waukesha; two daughters, Debra L. Neilsen, Breman, GA, and Barbara (Gregory) Zoellick, Sussex; one brother, Willard T. Nielsen, Waukesha; and a brother-in-law, William Gregware of Virginia, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Richard A. and Roger W. Nielsen; a brother, Robert and a sister Dorothy.

 

Graveside funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.  Visitation was at the Cemetery Chapel Monday from noon until the time of services. There will be no local visitation in Black River Falls.

 

The family prefers memorials be given in Richard’s name to the Black River Falls Emergency Medical Services.

 

Torgerson’s Funeral Service (715-284-4321) of Black River Falls assisted the family with arrangements.
