Lange, Alvin R. (18 Mar. 1930 – 13 Mar. 2004)
Alvin Robert Lange, age 73 of Elmwood, died Saturday, March 13, 2004 in Elmwood.
He was born on Mar. 18, 1930 in Jackson County, the son of Otto and Hazel (Frank) Lange and grew up in the Cornell area.
On Mar. 29, 1952, he married Norma Helland in Chippewa County, a union which was blessed with four children. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served from 1952-1954.
Throughout his life he was employed as a cheese-maker at the Colburn Cheese Factory, farmed, worked at the Cornell Paper Mill, and retired from Walter Brothers Saw Mill in 1988. He had been a resident of Elmwood since 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 48 years, Norma, who passed away in 2000.
He is survived by three sons, Robert (Karen Lange of Sun Prairie, Rodney (Joanne) Lange of Elmwood and Roger (Marie) Lange of Menomonie; a daughter, Ruth (Chuck) Javener of New Auburn; three sisters, Dorothy Oemig of Cornell, Dell (Gerald) Nazer of Jim Falls, and Betty (Robert Krause of Berlin; one brother, Harvey (Margaret) Lange of Cornell; fourteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two aunts; one uncle; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and his two dogs, Speckles and Wuzzy.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Mar. 16 at 4 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley.
Rev. Joan Tyvoll officiates the service. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
