Tenner, Helen Esther (2 February 1915 – 10 October 2009)

 

Helen E. Tenner, 94, of Black River Falls died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, in Pine View Care Center.

 

Helen Esther Brown was born Feb. 2, 1915, at Cataract to Charles and Lula (Haberl) Brown.  She was raised in Cataract and graduated from Sparta High School.

 

She married Arnold F. Tenner June 21, 1933, in Cataract. The couple first lived at Cataract before moving to Black River Falls in 1943.  Arnold Tenner died Jan. 3, 2003.

 

Helen had been employed at various grocery stores and restaurants and had been employed at the Al-Min Shopping Center for many years.  She also did housecleaning for various Black River Falls families.

 

She was a member of the Black River Falls United Methodist Church. She enjoyed making Afghans, flower gardening, playing cards and dancing.

 

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley (David) Francis of San Antonio, TX; a son, Dale (Jean) Tenner of Black River Falls; seven grandchildren, Steve (Judy) Tenner, David (Bonnie) Tenner, Jeffrey (Kathy) Tenner, Annette (William, Jr.) Waughtal, Kim Francis, Michele Kuykendall and Jamie Francis; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Burchard of Tomah and Geraldine Schotten of Elroy and numerous other relatives and friends.

 

In addition to her husband, Arnold, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marlin Brown and Lester Brown; and a sister, Norma Woodliff.

 

Graveside services were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at the Cataract Cemetery.  Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Black River Falls United Methodist Church.  Pastor Kathleen Jury officiated.  Family and friends called at the church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.

 

The family prefers memorials to Black River Memorial Hospice.

 

The Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, assisted the family with arrangements.
