Mrs. R. J. Weix, Colby, was the grand prize winner of the Colby Cheese Recipe contest held during Colby Cheese Days over the past weekend. Mrs. Weix won a $50 gift certificate from the John Wuethrich Creamery in Greenwood. She also was a 1968 finalist in the Pillsbury contest.

A lunch was served following the baptism at the home of Kelley’s parents. William E. Beil Jr., whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. William E. Beil, Abbotsford, recently was commissioned an Army Second Lieutenants upon graduating from Officer Candidate School, Ft. Benning, Georgia.

During the 14-week course, students were trained in leadership, small unit tactics and infantry weapons. They also received instruction in map and aerial photograph reading and communications.

Lt. Beil entered the Army in May 1975.
