Swarthout, Blaine C. (6 NOV 1893 – 25 SEP 1975)
Blaine C. Swarthout, 81, Spencer, died Wednesday, September 25, 1975, at
Continental Manor, Abbotsford.
Funeral services were held at the Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, on Saturday,
September 27, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. William H. Ruhbusch officiating.
Burial was made in the West Spencer Cemetery.
Blaine Swarthout was born November 6, 1893 at Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.). He
received his education at Colby, Wisconsin.
He was married to Alice Holl, who preceded him in death in 1929, and to Tillie
Georgas in spencer on October 29, 1934. She preceded him in death March 12,
1975.
He did electrical construction work until his second marriage, when he received
his Funeral Director's license and they both operated the Swarthout Funeral Home
in Spencer until 1958, when they retired. He was assessor for the village of
Spencer, and also president of the West Spencer Cemetery Association.
Mrs. Arnold Stelzl was organist, with Mrs. Russell Lang singing, Jesus, Lead
Thou On," and "Jesus, Savior Pilot Me." Pallbearers were Elmer, Arnold, Tom and
Jack Sersch, Vincent Weber, and William Welch.
Mr. Swarthout is survived by two step-daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Sersch, R. 4,
Marshfield, and Mrs. Isabelle Wachholz, Spencer, and one step-son, Elmer A.
Georgas, Neillsville.
He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Swarthout, Blaine C. #2 (6 November 1893 – 24 September 1975)
Blaine C. Swarthout, 81, of Spencer, and step-father of E. A. Georgas of
Neillsville, was buried in the West Spencer Cemetery Saturday following services
from the Rux Funeral Home in Spencer. The Rev. William H. Ruhbusch of Trinity
Lutheran Church, Spencer, was in charge.
Mr. Swarthout died September 24 at Continental Nursing Home in Abbotsford, where
he had been a resident in recent times.
A native of Clark County, he was born November 6, 1893, in Dorchester. He was a
graduate of Colby High School and engaged in electrical work following his
graduation. He later received his state licenses and operated the funeral home
in Spencer until his retirement in 1958.
He served for several years as Spencer village assessor and also served as
president of the West Cemetery association.
His first wife, Alice Hall, died in 1929, and his second wife, Tillie Georgas,
whom he married October 29, 1934, died March 12, 1975.
Surviving are a niece, Mrs. John (Jane) Jacobi of Greenwood, and three
step-children, Mrs. Dorothy Sersch of Marshfield, Mrs. Isabelle Wachhikz of
Spencer and Elmer A. Georgas of Neillsville.
During the service, Mrs. Russell Lang sang. She was accompanied by Mrs. Arnold
Stetzel.
Pallbearers were Elmer, Tom, Arnold and Jack Sersch, Vincent Weber and William
Welch.
