Klute, Joanne (18 June 1934 – 25 January 2007) 

Joanne Blackdeer Klute, 72, of Baraboo and formerly of Black River Falls, died Thursday evening, Jan. 25, 2007, in the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison. 

Joanne was born on June 18, 1934, at Hunter’s Bridge, La Crosse County, to Earl W. and Eva (Littlebear) Blackdeer.  She was raised in the Hunter’s Bridge area. 

She married Irwin Littlegeorge, and they lived in Black River Falls.  The couple later divorced.  She later married David Klute and they also became divorced. 

Joanne has lived in Baraboo for many years.  She had been employed at Badger Ordinance and at Norplex.  

Joanne enjoyed playing bingo, watching television soap operas, cooking and baking, traveling and sight seeing. 

Survivors include two daughters, Joanna (Greg) Hollenback and Dianne (Jim Long) Littlegeorge, both of Baraboo; five sons, Michael Blackdeer, Steven (Jenny) Littlegeorge, and Mitchell (Sharon Hildenbrandt) Littlegeorge, all of Baraboo, Roy (Delores) Littlegeorge of Black River Falls, and Brad (Teresa) Littlegeorge of Wisconsin Dells; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers: Ruth Puent and Sophia Parmenski, both of Black River Falls, Veronica (David) Espinoza of Baraboo, and Christina Blackdeer and Stanley (Diane Harwick) Blackdeer both of Black River Falls; and Curtis (Karen) Blackdeer of Madison; a sister-in-law, Lila Blackdeer of Black River Falls; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Joanne was preceded in death by a brother, William Blackdeer, and a sister, Patricia Blackdeer.  

Funeral services were held at 12 noon on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at the Blackdeer Homestead, rural Black River Falls.  Burial was in the Blackdeer Homestead Cemetery.  Roberta Decorah and other members of the Mann family assisted the family. 

Family and friends were invited for visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Buswell Funeral Home (www.buswellfuneralhome.com), Black River Falls, and from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday at the Blackdeer Homestead.
