Dennis Wayne Ransom, 62, Edgerton and formerly of Merrillan died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

He was born Oct. 8, 1947, in Black River Falls to Clyde and Anna (Grancorvitz) Ransom.

Dennis graduated from Lincoln High School, Alma Center, in 1965; from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree; and from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he received a Master of Business Administration degree.

He was employed as a supervisor for WPS of Madison.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a loyal Badger and Packer fan. Dennis will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.  But most of all, Dennis was a loving father and brother and will be deeply missed by his family.

Dennis is survived by his two sons, Kyle Ransom of Madison and Lucas Ransom of Milton; his two adopted sons, Mike Ransom and Heath Ransom; two brothers, Gene (Judith) Ransom of Black River Falls and Raymond Ransom of Merrillan; a half-brother, William Grancorvitz of Garden Valley, AZ; and nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Guy Ransom; and sister-in-law, Barbara (Windsor) Ransom.

Memorial services were held at noon Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at the Witcomb-Lynch-Albrecht Funeral Home, 1004 S. Main Street in Edgerton.  Friends and family called from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Dennis’ name to the American Diabetes Association.

The family is especially thankful to the friends, doctors, nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison for their kindness and support.
