Kinley, Clarice S. (9 August 1916 – 7 January 2010)
Clarice S. Kinley, 93, of Black River Falls died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, in the Family Heritage Care Center in Black River Falls.
She was born Aug. 9, 1916, in Jackson County to Peter and Edna Stein Stubrud. She was raised in Jackson County. She married Ronald “Bud” Kinley March 7, 1942, in Chicaqua City, Minn.
She attended the Wisconsin Academy of Cosmetology and the Kree School of Electrolysis. For many years, she owned and operated Clarice’s Style Studio in downtown Black River Falls.
Clarice was a member of the United Methodist Church, the General Federated Women’s Club, the Black River Memorial Hospital Partners, both the National and Wisconsin Hairdressers Association and the Jackson County Historical Society.
Surviving are three daughters-in-law, Barbara Kinley, Oconomowoc, Marie Kinley, East Troy, and Chris Kinley, Black River Falls; grandsons, Timothy Kinley, East Troy, and Thomas Kinley, Pewaukee; nephews, Myron Stubrud, Florida; Claron “Gene” Stubrud, Alma Center; Bernard, Palmer, and Charles Stubrud, Black River Falls, and Larry Stubrud, Iowa; nieces, Karen Otterson, Madison, Gretchen Anderson, Black River Falls, and Carol Kolzow, Sheboygan; and special friends Mardi Fries and Pat Goetzka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, Feb. 28, 1987; two sons, Charles and Peter; an infant daughter, Penelope Faith.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Black River Falls. Pastor Kathleen Jury conducted services, and burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Relatives and friends called at Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321), Black River Falls Monday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
