Zillmer, Margaret C. (15 October 1922 – 16 January 2010)
Margaret C. Zillmer, 87, of Black River Falls died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in the Family Heritage Care Center in Black River Falls while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice.
Margaret was born in Black River Falls Oct. 15, 1922 to Simon and Alice (Peterson) Melbye. She was raised in Black River Falls and graduated from Black River Falls High School.
She married Gordon Zillmer. The couple was married for over 25 years, and they later divorced.
Margaret worked as a clerk at the dime store and as secretary for over 30 years at the Mosser Lee Company in Millston. She also was a secretary at the Jackson County Forestry Department, and she sorted cranberries.
Surviving are her two sons, Bing (Kathy) Zillmer, Holmen, and Mark (Julie) Zillmer, Black River Falls; her daughter, Sharon (Jerry) Griffin, Owensboro, KY; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert, Clarence, Marvin and Harold Melbye; three sisters, Evelyn Wiskia, Josie Melbye and Florine Hanson; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Zillmer.
Funeral services for Margaret C. Zillmer were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church (115 N. 5th St.) Pastor Eric Bakken officiated, and burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls. Relatives and friends called at Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321), Black River Falls Monday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and at the church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
