Staszak, Pauline (12 November 1893 –31 December 1954)

Mrs. Joseph Staszak died suddenly Friday morning, December 31, 1954, in the waiting room of the Krohn Hospital of a heart attack.  Mrs. Staszak had never been sick until the day of her death, when not feeling too well had gone to the hospital.  She was 61 years, one month and 19 days of age at the time of her death.

Services were held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in this city at 2 p.m. January 3rd, the Rev. Raymond P. Huss officiating.  The song service was given by Rufus Dimmick, accompanied by Mrs. Bert Engebretson.  He sang, “Beyond the Sunset: and “The Old Rugged Cross”.

Pallbearers were: Martin Field, Frank Zlesak, Leo Bloczynski, Sr., Jerry Suchanek, Oscar Teeples and Anton Lipka.  Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls.

Besides floral tributes; there were many memorials given in her memory.

Pauline Plonka, daughter of Valentine and Margaret Plonka, and one of 12 children in the family was born November 12, 1893, in Witowa, Poland.  She came to America in 1913, setting at Cicero, Illinois. She was married to Joseph Staszak in October, 1914.  In 1918 they moved to a farm near Hatfield, and had lived there for the past 36 years.

Mrs. Staszak is survived and mourned by her husband, three daughters and one son: Agnes M. Staszak, Milwaukee, Stella, Mrs. Charles Jelinek, Hatfield, Mary, Mrs. Leo Bloczynski, Black River Falls and John, at home. She was preceded in death by three sons, two in infancy and Albert, on November 17, 1951, whose loss she greatly mourned.  She leaves seven grandchildren.

Of her family of 12; two brothers and four sisters survive: Mrs. Mary Svoboda, Andrew Plonka, Cicero, Illinois, Mrs. Thomas (Frances) Novak, Merrillan, and two sisters and one brother still living in Poland.

Deeply devoted to her family, Mrs. Staszak was a home loving person, good and kind, honest and generous. She was quiet, keeping her troubles to herself and wherever possible sharing those of others. The sympathy of all goes to her bereaved family.

Among relatives from away to attend the services were Mrs. Hattie Staszak, Mrs. Mary Svoboda, Andrew Plonka and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Staszak, all of Cicero, Illinois, and Mrs. Josephine Duszka, Chicago.
