Lien, Dorothy Lois (17 June 1932 – 13 March 2010)
Dorothy Lois Lien, 77, of Eau Claire, formerly of Alma Center, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Dove Healthcare, Eau Claire.
She was born June 17, 1932, in Hixton, Jackson County, to Wayne and Laura (Christianson) Chandler. She was united in marriage Jan. 15, 1946, to James “Jimmy” Lien in Hixton.
Dorothy was a cook for the Alma Center School District for many years. In 1968, they moved to Chippewa Falls/Eau Claire area. She was a cook at Eau Claire North High School for 17 years.
Dorothy loved little kids, especially her grandchildren, and animals. She enjoyed watching the “I Love Lucy” show, sitting in the sun, music and dancing. Dorothy was a meticulous housekeeper and a great cook. She was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Dorothy was a member of the Alma Center American Legion and VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughters, Dianne (Fred) Myher of Eau Claire, Lois Lien of Minneapolis, MN, and Sheila (Bill Nelson) Lien of Osseo; sisters, Phyllis (Menford “Snuffy”) Gunderson of Black River Falls and Joyce (Ronnie) Olson of Northfield; brothers, Jerry Chandler of Black River Falls, Lyle (Elaine) Chandler of Alma Center, Allan (Donna) Chandler of Northfield (York), Richard (Raye) Chandler of Necedah and Mike (Evelyn) Chandler of Alma Center; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sue Chandler of Hixton; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy”; parents, Wayne and Laura; brother, Ken Chandler; and sister-in-law Rita Chandler.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2010, 11 a.m., at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hixton. Reverend John Kaplinski will be officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery, Alma Center.
Family and friends were invited for visitation Tuesday, March 16, 2010, 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, and are also invited for visitation Wednesday, March 17, 2010, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home of Hixton is assisting the family with arrangements.
