Frye, Eunice E. (27 May 1919 – 10 March 2010)

Eunice E. “Topsy” Frye, 90, of Black River Falls died at the home of her son in the Town of Brockway Wednesday, March 10, 2010.  She resided at the River Grove Apartments.

She was born on May 27, 1919, in the Avon area of the Town of Alma, Jackson County, to Edward T. and Josephine (Nichols) Bue.  She was raised in the Avon, Wrightsville, South Alma and Oak Grove areas of Jackson County.

She married James M. Frye in Dubuque, IA, Dec. 11, 1941.  The couple lived for many years at East Troy.  Her husband preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1987.  Following his death, she moved to Black River Falls.

Eunice cooked at East Troy Schools and did housekeeping at Alpine Valley Resort in East Troy.  She volunteered for many years at the Pine View Care Center and the Tomah VA Medical Center.

Surviving Eunice are her three sons, James Frye, Black River Falls, Randolph (Patricia) Frye, Fayetteville, GA, and Russell (Jeannette) Frye, Westminster, CO; two brothers, Virgil E. “Birdie” Bue, Black River Falls and Benjamin Bue, Washington; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Raleigh, Irving, Thomas, Edward “Charley”, Claude “Johnny” and Mahlon; and a sister, Evelyn Bue.

Funeral services for Eunice E. “Topsy” Frye were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, from the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Pastor Ramie Bakken officiated, and burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls. Relatives and friends called at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Torgerson’s Funeral Service, Black River Falls, assisted the family with arrangements.
