Hayes, Curtis C. (20 December 1931 – 8 February 2010) With Flag

 

Curtis C. Hayes, 78, of Janesville passed away at his home Monday, Feb. 8, 2010.

 

Curtis was born Dec. 20, 1931, at Hixton, Jackson County, the son of Henry and Theo (Martin) Hayes.  He graduated from Hixton High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

 

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served from 1952 to 1954 and was stationed in France for over 16 months.  Curtis was united in marriage Dec. 3, 1955, to Ardella Jarstad. They moved from Hixton to Janesville in 1957, and he was employed by General Motors until retiring in 1988.

 

Curtis was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, U. A. W. Local #95 and Kienow-Hilt VFW Post #1621.

 

Surviving are his wife, Ardella; four children, Maurita (Larry) Laube of Janesville, Juanita (Marty) McCormick of Forest Lake, MN, Carmen (Christ) Lehman of Angola, IN, and Chuck (Becky) Hayes of Albany; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer (Marge) of Stratford and James (Donna) of Black River Falls.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at Mr. Calvary Lutheran Church, 2940 Mineral Point Avenue Janesville.  Pastor Cory Rajek will officiate.  Military rites will be conducted by Kienow-Hilt VFW Post #1621.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services Sunday at the Church. Burial will be at a later date at the Lutheran Cemetery at Northfield.

 

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to a memorial fund that will be established in Curtis’ name.
