Prochaska, Marie Elizabeth (30 September 1924 – 8 February 2010)
Marie E. Prochaska, 85, of Black River Falls died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, in Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls.
Marie Elizabeth Reichenbach was born Sept. 30, 1924, in Melrose to Raymond and Bessie (Bibby) Reichenbach. When she was one year old, she moved with her family to the Wrightsville area of Jackson County. She graduated from Black River Falls High School.
She married John Prochaska Sept. 30, 1942, in Wrightsville. The couple lived and farmed at Wrightsville all of their married lives. John Prochaska died May 2, 1997.
Marie had been employed by the Jackson County Abstract Company, Hart Tie and Lumber Company and at Fort McCoy for 12 years.
She was a member of the Black River Falls United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the WFLA Lodge Rotalest #196, the Wrightsville Homemakers and the Black River Falls Senior Citizens.
Marie enjoyed many activities, including cooking and baking, fishing, playing cards – particularly cribbage, traveling (she and John visited Hawaii, Alaska, California and Switzerland as well as other places), picking mushrooms, blackberries and strawberries and visiting casinos.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary (John) Seekamp of Montgomery, IL; three sons, Richard (Jill) Prochaska of Black River Falls, Antone (Debra) Prochaska of Wisconsin Rapids and Stephen Prochaska of Black River Falls; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Prochaska of Black River Falls and Monica (Mark) Kubiske of Rhinelander; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice (Robert) Comstock of Merrillan; a brother, Keith (Margaret) Reichenbach of Eau Claire; and numerous other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, John; Marie was preceded in death by two sons, David and Joel Prochaska; and a brother, Lynn Reichenbach.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at the Black River Falls United Methodist Church, and burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Pastor Kathleen Jury will officiate.
Family and friends are invited for visitation at the church Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The family prefers memorials to either the Black River Falls United Methodist Church or the Black River Falls Senior Citizens Center.
