Hoff, Avis P. (6 December 1934 – 26 December 2009)
Avis P. Hoff, 75, of Alma Center died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at the Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls.
She was born Dec. 6, 1934, in Fall Creek to parents Henry and Ella (Abraham) Sommerfeldt. She graduated from high school in Eau Claire and married Roger Hoff Jan. 12, 1957, in Eau Claire.
Avis was employed as a payroll clerk for the Jackson County Highway Department for over 20 years. Avis enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Fairview Homemakers and also belonged to a group of retired employees of Jackson County.
She is survived by her son, Ronald (Debra) Hoff of Beloit; two brothers, LaVerne Sommerfeldt of North Carolina and Marvin (Karen) Sommerfeldt of Readlyn, IA; two sisters, Dorothy (Lawrence) Woodcock of Hayward and Darlene (Glenn) Olson of Ridgeland; one grandson, Jared Spaeth; special friend, Connie Patterson of Alma Center; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, Jan. 8, 2001; by her son Roy; sister, Mabel Stanton; and brother, Elmer Sommerfeldt.
Funeral services for Avis P. Hoff will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at the Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery, rural Hixton. Pastor Mark Christianson will officiate.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church.
The Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
