Hatfield, Terry R. (15 December 1948 – 29 March 2010) With Flag
Terry R. Hatfield, 61, Merrillan died March 29, 2010, at home. He was born Dec. 15, 1948, to Raymond and Charlotte (Harris) Hatfield in Savannah, IL.
He entered the U. S. Army at the age of 18, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star during his time in the Army.
He was united in marriage June 23, 1973, to Kathy Lastinger; together they raised three children. Terry worked as a welder for the Toro Company for over 25 years. He was united in marriage Oct. 9, 1993, to Cindy Gray at Millston.
Terry was an outdoorsman, enjoying all the beauties of nature. He spent many hours enjoying the wildlife from his front window. He was a hunter, fisherman and camper. Terry and his special son-in-law, Wally, could be found scouting the countryside for new adventures. He enjoyed riding his Goldwing Motorcycle, and he was a member of the ABATE Motorcycle Club. Terry had the ability to bring a smile to your face with his witty jokes and funny e-mails. He also enjoyed surfing e-Bay for the latest deals.
Terry’s greatest love in life was his family, especially the family holiday gatherings; he was a very proud father and grandfather. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, companion and friend, and will be sadly missed by those that loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Cindy Hatfield; a son, Jeffery Hatfield of Mauston; two daughters, Michelle (Wally) Crawford of Necedah and Theresa Hatfield (Keith of Pittsville; a step-son, Pete Henning of Tomah; two step-daughters, Carie Ann (Rob) Moake of Tomah and Samantha (Jacob) Henning of Warrens; five grandchildren, Katelyn Hatfield, Terri Hillriegel and Christopher Hillriegel and Alissa and Tyler Moake; two brothers, Keith of Tomah and Rodney (Linda) of Mauston; five sisters, Tammy (Kenneth) Newcomb and Cindy (Timothy) Slater, both of Tomah, Darlene (Claire) Muenzenberger of Warrens, Linda (Ronald) Thurston of Sparta and Lisa (Paul) Boehme of Viola; an uncle, Larry (Becky) Hatfield of AK, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Charlotte Hatfield; an infant brother, Ray Alvin Hatfield; and a nephew, Timothy Muenzenberger.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday April 10, 2010, 11 a.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah.
Burial will be at a later date at the Brookside Cemetery, Millston, with Military Honors.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Saturday, April 10, 2010, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
